SPSS is installed under directory /usr/local/SPSS/bin/ on willow. You can use SPSS in batch mode on willow directly. Or you can open an xwin session of willow to use it either interactively or in batch mode.

To use SPSS on willow interactively, you need xwin. After you get the xterm window for willow, type "
spss " in the xterm window, you will see three new windows popping out: one for new data, one for syntax and one for output. You can fill in data in the spreadsheet table of newdata and use them for interactive analysis. In the window of syntax, you can write your own code and submit it to SPSS.

How do I configure Xwin to use SPSS interactively?

SPSS is on willow, so the configuration of Xwin to use SPSS interactively is exactly the same as the configuration of Xwin to use SAS.

How do I use SPSS in batch mode?

You can use SPSS in batch mode either in Xterm window or on willow directly. Just type "
