Their are some air conditioning issues in the UM/MCSR Data Center today. Hopefully they will be resolved quickly; if not, we'll need to power down the systems. If you are suddenly logged off and unable to reconnect, this will be why.

Redwood is back online with access to user files restored through another port on the disk controller. PBS jobs were restarted, and appear to be accumulating CPU time. Please check your PBS jobs to make sure.

We have been seeing some I/O contention and sluggishness for jobs of mimosa users whose /ptmp directory is mapped to /work9. In particular, any PBS jobs owned by the following accounts on mimosa may be in jeopardy due to an inability to write to disk. If your job becomes a casualty of this problem, please resubmit it. MCSR systems redwood, sequoia, and mimosa were powered down during an unplanned power outage on the UM campus Saturday morning. The outage lasted less than an hour, and by 9 AM, MCSR and UM OIT staff were working to bring all systems back online. Once all MCSR systems are back online later this morning, you will need to check your PBS jobs and, if necessary, resubmit them.

All MCSR Systems are back online after a power outage on the UM campus Saturday morning. PBS jobs on redwood and sequoia were restarted from scratch, or re-queued. Users with jobs running on mimosa this morning will need to resubmit them. Users of sweetgum are reminded to back up their own critical data from sweetgum.

The status of the MCSR systems after Wednesday night's reboots: Sweetgum and Mimosa are up, and all previously running or queued PBS jobs will need to be resubmitted by the users. Redwood and Sequoia are up, and PBS jobs that were running or queued prior to reboot have been re-run or re-queued.

Just a reminder that MCSR servers will be powered down beginning at 4 PM for a scheduled power outage from 5-8 PM this afternoon on the UM campus.
