Unix and Linux at MCSR
All MCSR systems run a version of either the Unix or the Linux operating system. Most MCSR users can learn in just an hour or two all they need to know about Unix and Linux to run their applications or write their programs.
MCSR makes some online resources available to help you get started, including the Unix Help for
Users guide. Seminars are available for small groups, including academic classes where students might need an orientation to Unix or Linux before completing an assignment. Individual and class accounts are available for Mississippi students on MCSR systems, even if the only purpose of the account is so the student can learn and practice navigating the Unix/Linux environments.
