MATLAB Bioinformatics Toolbox on Willow

by H. Wang

The Bioinformatics Toolbox has been added to the MATLAB instructional environment on willow. The toolbox provides access to genomic and proteomic data formats, analysis techniques, and specialized visualizations for genomic and proteomic sequence and microarray analysis. To learn more about the features of this toolbox, see the documentation at www.mathworks.com or type

help bioinfo/bioinfo

under matlab on willow. There are several examples to demonstrate this bioinformatics toolbox.

Besides this new toolbox, we also updated the Neural Network Toolbox and Statistics Toolbox with Service Package 1. We maintain a 30-seat educational license for MATLAB on willow for classroom use, and a 5-seat research license (with no toolkits) on sweetgum for research use. If you are interested in the Bioinformatics Toolbox or any MATLAB tool for teaching or class projects, please contact assist@mcsr.olemiss.edu and we will create accounts for your class on willow.

For more info on Matlab at UM/MCSR, see http://www.mcsr.olemiss.edu/computing/matlab.html.
