Visual Numerics, the developers of PV-WAVE, IMSL, and JMSL, will be coming to Mississippi April 14 to give educational presentations to MCSR researchers. The morning (9:30-12 A.M) presentations will focus on the IMSL/JMSL products, including the Knowledge In Motion Program, through which instructors are supported by VNI in developing or enhancing courses in statistics, computer science, or other disciplines by incorporating easy-to-build, intuitive, interactive graphical components that help students visualize data. The afternoon session (1-3:30 P.M.) will focus on PV-WAVE. The speakers will present from the Access GRID Node at the University of Mississippi in Old Chemistry 207 (lunch provided), with remote AG Node participation possible from USM, Jackson State, and Mississippi State. MCSR already has a site-license for these products, and so this will not be sales pitch, but will instead have an instructional focus. Both Visual Numerics and MCSR are interested in increasing the user-base of these tools at MCSR, and establishing relationships with and between those researchers and students who would use these tools. If you are affiliated with a Mississippi IHL, and have ever used, currently use, or have thought about using one of these products, either for research or instruction, OR if you think you MIGHT be interested in attending some or all of the April 14 presentations, either on-site in Jackson or remotely via one of the Access Grid Nodes at USM, MSU, or Ole Miss, please take 5 minutes and complete this very short survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=51923386840. This will help us to gear not only the April presentation but also our future educational offerings in these products toward your interests and needs.
