Adding 32 Nodes to Mimosa, End of June

by J. Hale

The MCSR Mimosa cluster will be unavailable from Monday June 20 to Thursday June 30. During this time, we will bring 32 additional nodes online, upgrade PBS Pro, and do some benchmarking of the new nodes. The 32 new additions are Dell GX280 Pentium 4 PCs, each with 1GB memory, running at 2.8 GHz. They were chosen to be identical in speed in memory to the existing 74 Gateway nodes and 66 CSI nodes in the cluster. However, they have a 800MHz bus, in contrast to the 400MHz bus of the Gateways, and the 533MHz bus of the CSIs.

The new cluster configuration of 251 nodes is depicted textually at http://www.mcsr.olemiss.edu/computing/mimosa2.html, and pictorially at http://www.mcsr.olemiss.edu/computing/diagrams/mimosa_files/mimosa_frames.htm.
