Lighthouses

Hunting Island Lighthouse

Hunting Island Lighthouse. (Photograph by John B. Padgett.)

The lighthouse in my home page graphic is reminiscent of an 1873 lighthouse at Hunting Island State Park, a barrier island near Beaufort, South Carolina. When I'm home visiting my parents, Hunting Island is one of my favorite places to go. The lighthouse is open to the public (though now you must pay a fee, alas).

If you would like to see more lighthouses, check out Bill's Lighthouse Getaway and Linda's Lighthouse Page.

Also, the U.S. Postal Service has a series of lighthouse stamps available for your viewing — and purchasing — pleasure.

If you know of any other World Wide Web sites devoted to lighthouses, please let me know.
