I teach Latin to seventh and eighth grade students at Oxford Middle School. OMS is the only public middle school in Mississippi with a Latin program. As a former Earthwatch expedition team member, I am also devoted to sea turtle preservation, and turtles in general.
My husband, David Warren Steel, teaches music and southern culture at the University of Mississippi. We both enjoy Sacred Harp singing. We have a dog, Cleo. I have two sons. Sam is a resident physician at the University of New Mexico Hospitals. Nate is senior vice president at Greenwich Technologies, a computer firm in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He has two sons, Charlie and Lachlan.
