I teach Latin to seventh and eighth grade students at Oxford Middle School. OMS is the only public middle school in Mississippi with a Latin program. As a former Earthwatch expedition team member, I am also devoted to sea turtle preservation, and turtles in general.
My husband, David Warren Steel, teaches music and southern culture at the University of Mississippi. We both enjoy Sacred Harp singing but he is the real expert. I have two sons. Sam attends the University of Michigan Medical School. Nate is employed at Greenwich Technologies, a computer firm in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He is the proud father of Charlie, aged six.
